Alberto Cuadros "100 New Strawberries"
Caleb Jonker Gallery presents 100 New Strawberries an installation of paintings by Alberto Cuadros at the epicenter of East Costa Mesa- The Inconvenience Store, with an opening reception on November 15, 2024, at 2944 Randolph Av unit 5, Costa Mesa from 5 to 9 p.m.
In 2019 Alberto Cuadros inaugurated his 1000 Strawberries project referencing the iconic strawberry signs found along the coastal highways of California. The strawberries are a mediation on color, composition, and gesture and function as a metaphor for Cuadros’ socially engaged art practice.
100 New Strawberries displays the artist’s proliferation as Cuadros continues to paint his way through art historical references, and regional iconography. Now the project expands to include a fresh crop of 100 new canvases from the artist’s 1000 Strawberries project, of which the artist has completed over 700 unique works.
